Establishing Habits That Lead to Godly Character
Your words, thoughts, feelings, decisions actions and habits all shape your character. If you embrace the world’s way of speaking, thinking and acting, your character will ultimately reflect ungodly beliefs, norms and values. But when you make the Word of God your final authority in life your character will propel you down the path to lasting prosperity and success. Your destiny!
Words change your thinking,
Which change your emotions,
Which change your choices,
Which change your habits,
Which change your character,
Which changes your destiny.
Character is a direct result of habits formed in life. I John 3:7 teaches that we should practice righteous behavior. Our repeated choices day in, day out develop habits. It sounds like practice. Doesn’t it? You can practice doing the right thing until it becomes part of your lifestyle.
Form New Habits
Form new positive habits. You may ask? “What about my bad habits? If I am working to improve my life shouldn’t I put a stop to bad habits?” You certainly want to identify weak areas in your life. But focusing on the weak areas of your life is not always successful. Focusing on the bad habit may cause you to continue that habit. However, if you focus on creating a new positive habit you will likely succeed. What you focus on gets repeated. Form a new habit on the way to your destiny.
Develop Character
Character is doing what is right because it is right and doing it right. It is who you are when no one is looking. Remember character is a direct result of the habits you have formed. Starting or ending each day by spending time in God’s Word and prayer is one of the best ways to create Godly character. As you habitually pursue a growing relationship with God and desire to spend time with Him, the very fiber of your life - your character will change to be more like God.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
